What Jimbaran is like
Jimbaran runs from the beach flats at Muaya and Kedonganan up onto the Bukit at Ungasan. Down by the water it is local homes mixed with villas near the fishing beach; up on the cliff the plots are larger, often with staff and a pool. Resort guests and long-stay villa renters are the two kinds of booking we get here.
Setting up in a room here
Resort rooms in Jimbaran are well equipped and well lit, which suits us. They are also the properties most likely to have a policy, so ask before the date. Cliff villas have space and plenty of sea wind, and the wind is why we set up inside rather than on the terrace, however good the view is.
Price and deposit
Quoting works the same everywhere in Bali: by request. Send the reference, the size in centimetres and the placement, and the artist replies with an estimate. A 40% deposit confirms the date and is not refunded if the session is cancelled.

Send the reference, the size and the placement
Send a photo or drawing of what you want, the size in centimetres, and the body part it goes on. Those three things make up the estimate, and without them nobody can give you a real number.

You get an estimate for that piece and the time it needs in the chair. Ask anything you like before you commit. Nothing is booked until you say yes.

Questions from Jimbaran
I am staying in a resort. Will they allow a tattoo session in the room?
Some will, some will not, and the only way to know is to ask reception before you book the date. If they say no, a villa or a guesthouse nearby usually works, or a friend renting privately in the same area. We would rather move the location than turn up and be turned away.
Can we do it by the pool? The light is better outside.
We bring a lamp instead. Wind, insects and dust are all reasons a session belongs indoors, and the lamp gives you the light you were after. Every session happens in a room that closes, on a covered surface, so a dim room is never a reason to move outside.
